Downtown Disney World is located near the eastern edge of the Disney World property and it is within walking distance to the Best Western Disney, which is one of the hotels we represent. The best way to describe Downtown Disney World is a mini metropolis of restaurants, shops and theatres. It is divided into two major sections…the largest is the West Side, a restaurant, shopping and entertainment district. Cirque du Soleil Theater and Disney Quest are located in this area.
The second section of Downtown Disney World is the Market Place. This area has a few nice restaurants such as Rainforest Café, Fulton’s Crab House and Margarita Café, which overlooks the marina. If you are into boating, then Captain Jack’s Marina’s is a great place to rent boats.
Downtown Disney World is a free attraction and most families decide to spend at least one night enjoying one of the many great restaurants or just simply strolling up and down the boardwalk area. If you arrive to Orlando late in the afternoon your family will thoroughly enjoy the Downtown Disney area, or you might plan on visiting Downtown Disney World on the day that you spend at Animal Kingdom, since it shuts down earlier than the other parks. We have provided a short video for you to view, this video will give you and your family members a good feel for what to expect.
Special Tip - One of the coolest things about Downtown Disney is that almost every night Disney has a high school band come in and perform. Many of these bands travel hundreds of miles to get here, and they put on quite a show.
