Universal Orlando features something for everyone in the family, but one of the hardest-to-please demographics is often the teen set. Check out this list of the best attractions for teens and make sure your kids know there’s plenty for them to do on your next Orlando vacation.
Any of the Harry Potter rides
When many folks think of rides for teenagers they immediately think of thrill rides. This is generally a safe bet (and we’ll cover plenty of those in the rest of this article) but don’t assume that’s all your teen is interested in. If they grew up reading the Harry Potter books, or watching the movies, then they’ll love both Harry Potter lands. One is located in Islands of Adventure, the other is in Universal Studios Orlando – both have exciting rides, unparalleled theming, and tons to do and see.
Roller coasters at Islands of Adventure and Universal Orlando
There are two main parks in Universal Orlando: Islands of Adventure, also known as IOA, and Universal Studios. Both have state-of-the-art roller coasters. Those located in Islands of Adventure are:
- The Incredible Hulk Coaster
- Dragon Challenge
Both of these coasters come highly recommend by those who love these type of thrill rides. Universal Studios is home to Hollywood Rip Ride Rock-it and a kiddie coaster called Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster. The former is an incredibly exciting high-thrills coaster, and the other can appeal to teens who like a kitschy, vintage feel, but it does not impress on thrills alone.
Make a splash and get the family wet
There are numerous rides in the Universal parks that can get you soaking wet! Parents may not want to ride these if they don’t want to walk around the parks with dripping wet clothes. These rides really are that extreme! They include:
- Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw Falls
- Jurassic Park River Adventure
- One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish
- Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges
Roller coasters are fun, wet rides are exciting, but there are numerous rides within the Universal Orlando parks that don’t fit into any specific categories. One thing’s for sure though: they’re exciting! Doctor Doom’s Fearfall takes riders up, up, up – and then BOOM! It’s a freefall! This ride is not for the faint of heart. In fact, you can hear the screams from halfway across the park!
Storm Force Accelatron is for those who don’t fear motion sickness – or who do fear it but won’t let it keep them down. The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man is an indoor 3D simulator ride that utilizes the latest technology, Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem is a similar 3D ride with lots of excitement, Fear Factor Live is a show that was created just to gross people out. And it works!
As you can see, there are tons of options for teens at Universal Orlando. From wet to dry to fast to scary, they’ve got it all!
