Widely considered to be one of the best attractions in the Magic Kingdom, the Haunted Mansion is Disney version of a traditional haunted house. Unlike most haunted houses that rely on scare tactics, the Haunted Mansion features an array of impressive illusions. The attraction begins with a ghostly portrait gallery which mysteriously grows, stretching the paintings and revealing some hysterically grim images. After the short walk through, guests board on “doombuggies” for a ride in the mansion itself. Along the tour visitors can spot ghostly figures dancing in the ballroom, the disembodied Madame Leouta spouting incantations from a crystal ball, an attic home to a creepy bride, and a graveyard full of ghostly musicians.
There is no height requirement for this ride.
The Haunted Mansion is very high capacity and usually has manageable lines. To avoid the longest lines, do not visit the Haunted Mansion between 1:00 p.m and 5:00 p.m.
- The voice of the Ghost Host is Paul Frees, a veteran actor who played Boris Badnov on Rocky and Bullwinkle, and voiced many characters in classic Disney shorts.
- The voice of Madame Leouta is Elanor Audley, who also voice the evil stepmother in Cinderella and Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty.
- Riders may notice there have been a few changes in the Haunted Mansion lately. In 2007 a few effects were added, including the new attic scene and Madame Leouta effects.
