Orlando Vacation Home Community Spotlight of the Month: Mystic Dunes
Mystic Dunes Resort and Golf Club is in the spotlight this month, and it’s not hard to see why when you consider the resort’s long list of amenities.
Of course, the main thing you’re interested in when choosing a spot to stay in Orlando is your accommodations. What will you find as you roll past the gated Mystic Dunes entrance? The resort makes sure you stay in style, with multiple televisions in your villa, including a 52 inch flat screen; a fully equipped kitchen with all the appliances you’d expect, like a refrigerator, microwave, stove, and oven; a washer and dryer; a dining area; private patio; and a whirlpool in the master bath for some post-theme park relaxation and muscle soothing. Up to eight people fit comfortably in the Mystic Dunes two bedroom villas.
The resort abounds with kid-approved amenities, like four separate swimming pools to help combat peak season crowds. The kid favorite is Dunes Lagoon, with its two-story water slide. Parents like holing up in the private poolside cabanas. Other family fun includes a miniature golf course, bike rentals, tennis and basketball courts, and structured activities.
Maybe the adults in your party are up for some fun of their own. You can tackle a championship 18 hole par 71 golf course right on the property. Although cooking is an easy money-saving option in the villas, Mom can order up a pizza from Maui Pizza delivery service if she doesn’t feel like cooking or herding the brood out to a restaurant.
You can even hop aboard a free shuttle at Mystic Dunes to get to Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, and SeaWorld Orlando. While the times are very limited, it can be a big help if you don’t have a car during your vacation.
So where exactly is Mystic Dunes Resort and Golf Club? Its location is just about as perfect as you can get, since it’s off the busy tourist strip, yet literally minutes away from the Disney theme parks. You’re a little over a mile away from Highway 192. At the Old Lake Wilson intersection, turn right and go to Griffin Road, make a right, and take Griffin to World Drive. A left-hand turn onto 192 puts you on the path to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and the Magic Kingdom. If you’re heading to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, make a right onto Sherbeth Road, which back-doors you onto Disney property right by the theme park.
Highway 192 is also a great spot if you want to explore other attractions and restaurants. Zip around a go-kart track, ride a reverse bungee into the sky, or try countless other adventures. The town of Celebration is a two-minute drive east down 192, with its cute little shopping district and lakefront restaurant row. You’re also close to I-4 if you plan to head over to Universal or SeaWorld.
Of course, you might never find time to leave Mystic Dunes, other than visiting the theme parks, because there’s so much to do right at the resort. That’s the beauty of staying in a Mystic Dunes villa. Whether you crave exploration and adventure, or you’re a resort homebody, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for.
