If you are planning a trip to Orlando this spring and like many soon-to-be travelers, find yourself in a conundrum over which of the amazing theme parks to make sure to include in your activities, I have one question for you. Are you a Star Wars fan by chance? If so, then your solution is easy. Hollywood Studios is the park for you.
Starting May 21st, Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM) holds its annual Star Wars Weekends. It's perfect timing this year because May 21st also happens to be the 30th anniversary of the movie The Empire Strikes Back.
Of course, you will want to be sure to enjoy the Star Tours ride at
Disney Hollywood Studios, but there will be other fun activities going on throughout the park as well. Kids love the Jedi Training Academy where they can train and then fight against Darth Vader. Everyone can participate in trivia and win prizes. Plus there will be Star Wars themed characters dressed up all over the park.
This year's celebrity guests in attendance are some well-loved characters of the movies, such as Billy Dee Williams who played Lando Calrissian. The man who played Chewbacca will also make an appearance - Peter Mayhew. Another well known character, but perhaps not so well known actor is Ray Park who played the sinister Darth Maul. There will be many other celebrity guests for the events, too.
So if you are a Star Wars fan and you happen to be planning a trip to Orlando, make plans to attend Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios from May 21st to June 13th.
