Visiting Disney with Pets

No pets (other than service animals) are allowed in the theme parks or the Walt Disney World resorts, except at certain campsites at Fort Wilderness. Travelers who bring pets along can lodge them in one of the five air-conditioned Pet Care Kennels: near the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC), left of Epcot Entrance Plaza, at the Disney-MGM Studios entrance, at the Disney's Animal Kingdom entrance, and at the Fort Wilderness campground entrance.

Traveler's Checks

Even the most careful of vacationers occasionally loses a wallet. Traveler's checks can take the sting out of that loss. Look for promotions by banks at home in the months preceding a vacation to see if one of the major brands is available for free. Keep the receipt bearing the check numbers in a place separate from the checks themselves, along with a piece of identification such as a duplicate driver's license or a spare credit card to speed the refund process should your checks get lost.

Quick Tip on Taxis in Orlando

Cabs are available for about $2.50 for the first mile, $1.50 per extra mile (though it may vary, depending on the number of passengers). Stick with authorized cab services. Many independent cab services charge outrageous rates.

Epcot's Germany Pavilion

There are no villages in Germany quite like this one. Inspired by various towns in the Rhine region, Bavaria, and the German north, it boasts structures reminiscent of those found in urban enclaves as diverse as Frankfurt, Freiburg, and Rothenburg. There are stai-stepped rooflines and towers, balconies and arcaded walkways, and so much overall charm that the scene seems to come straight out of a fairy tale.

Disney Stars and Motor Cars Parade

The Disney-MGM Studios celebrates Hollywood's golden era with a cavalcade of stars. This processional, presented as an old-fashioned motorcade, features souped-up cars occupied by super stars. Classic Disney characters are joined by friends from Disney Channel shows, not to mention members of the Muppets and Star Wars crews.

Same Day Theme Park Re-entry

As you leave either of the Universal Orlando Resort theme parks, be sure to have your hand stamped as you exit in order to be granted readmission into that park later in the day or evening. In addition to the hand stamp, be sure to retain your ticket stub. The hand stamps are designed to be water-resistant, so don't worry if your hands get wet if you choose to return to your hotel in the middle of the day to go swimming, and then want to return to Unversal Studios Florida later that evening. Try to refrain, however, from scrubbing your hands clean with soap until your day's visit to the theme parks is complete.

Disney Cruise Line

The Disney Wonder and its sister ship, the Disney magic, rank among the world's finest oceangoing vessels. The onboard experience is essentially the same on both ships, but some restaurant names, entertainment, and theming differ. As do the length of the cruises, as well as the destinations. A Disney Magic voyage takes guests on a 7-night cruise to the Caribbean. A three or four night cruise may be paired with a stay at a WDW resort. After spending three or four nights at Walt Disney World, guests retain the same room keys for their staterooms aboard the Disney Wonder. There is no second check-in on the ship. Staterooms closely match the category of the resort accommodations, from moderate to deluxe.

Quick Tip for Park Hoppers

There is a water taxi link between the Disney-MGM Studios and Epcot. The boat docks to the left as you exit the Disney-MGM Studios. You may also reach Epcot, as well as all other parks, by bus.

Tip for Timid Guests on Thrill Rides

Disney park guests have the right to chicken out at any time. In other words, should you or a member of your party have second thoughts about soaring on Space Mountain, visiting with the grinning ghosts of the Haunted Mansion, or another attraction, simply inform an attendant and you'll be whisked out a special exit.
