Orlando hotel discounters like Affordable Travel of Orlando, it looks like Disney World management team has decided to go after the timeshare market rather than trying to build more hotel rooms on the Disney grounds.
I was shocked to read this morning that Disney has 6 timeshare projects going on in Orlando right now. I knew timeshares were big, but I had no idea that 15% of all travelers to Orlando were coming to Orlando to go on a timeshare tour or they are going to be staying at a timeshare they recently purchased. This is an astonishing number, especially when you consider 25% of all visitors to Orlando is convention related. So that means of all the visitors to Orlando who are going to the theme parks over 20% of them are staying at a timeshare. That is a huge number and it is going to grow.
Currently Orlando has 19,000 timeshare units and I have read where most experts expect that number to increase three fold in the next 7 years. To tell you the truth, I tickled pink over this news. The more timeshare developers and timeshare projects going on in Orlando the more marketing dollars these companies are going to spend to get visitors to Orlando. All this marketing equals great news for the Orlando tourism.
