Outta Control Magic Show and Dinner Theater By Ashley Diller and Patrick Oliver
Hocus Pocus and Alakazam! A night full of magic, comedy, and food awaits you just down International Drive. Not out of the way, and not your typical magic show, “The Outta Control Magic Show” is a show to remember. If you’re a family, on a date, celebrating a birthday or an anniversary, this dinner show is affordable and perfect for all occasions. With its low prices, many show times per week, and great performers, you can go multiple times per week, or month, and never see the same show twice.
Just off exit 75A on I-4 and a right onto International Drive sits the upside down building of WonderWorks: home to “The Outta Control Magic Show”. Just inside the WonderWorks building, this dinner show is a short travel from any of the major attractions of Central Florida, and surrounded by an array things to do before, or after, the show. This one and one half hour long magic show offers non-stop laughs, and magical surprises around every corner. Cheer and clap for the performers as they entertain you through a dinner of pepperoni and cheese pizza and unlimited soda, wine and beer.
This entertaining dinner show is held twice a night, normally 6pm and 8pm, every night of the week. Be sure to contact WonderWorks before heading out to check show times and make sure there are tickets are still available. Anywhere you sit for this show is a great seat, but we recommend trying to sit close to the front, or near the center of the room. Get there early! They start lining up about 15 minutes prior to show time, and the line fills up fast. Once the doors open, at either 6pm or 8pm, you find yourself a place to sit, and the food begins to arrive.
As you walk through the doors, you’re first greeted by plastic top hats, filled with fresh buttery popcorn, waiting for you on the tables; a nice touch to get you in the mood for the magic to come. As everyone begins to settle into their seats the serves come around with hot, fresh pizza, your choice pepperoni or cheese, as well as take your drink orders. For the first 30 minutes after entering the dining room, you’re put into the mood with a wide assortment of music being interrupted with an occasional outburst of “What’s in the box?!” Don’t worry, if you didn’t hear it the first few times, you’ll hear it once or twice more during the show.
And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for! At 6:30pm and 8:30pm the show begins to start. Don’t worry, however, if you haven’t gotten your fill of pizza or drinks, they will continue serving during the show. Get ready for excitement, and put your hands together for the show you’ve all been waiting for! Normally on stage in the many times we’ve gone are Tony, Fred and Adina, but the performers do change from time to time. Never fear, though, as all the performers on stage are always amazing and memorable. “What’s in the box?!” Now that you’re all hyped up the fun is about to start! Filled with non-stop laughter and surprises, the show is sure to please. The best part about this show: It’s impromptu! Of course it is, it has to be! In a live show filled with audience participation, things are bound to change. A good example of how things sometimes change would be our first visit to the show. About half way through, during one of Tony’s tricks, the cutest little 5-year-old boy stood up on his chair with the pride of a man who knows what he’s talking about declared that you just cannot do what Tony was doing! Being the performer he is, Tony took this in stride, and turned it into 5 or more minutes of pure comedy as he went back and for with this little boy, making his one small comment one of the most memorable parts of the show. Be ready to keep one hand empty for this show, as they’re always asking for volunteers, and you’re sure to find yourself raising your hand faster than you can consider what you’re getting yourself into. Just keep one thing in mind: you’re not only a volunteer, you’re a victim for the comedy antics that are sure to follow. “What’s in the box?” Patrick has volunteered a few times, but I won’t. I know all too well what happens when you get brought up on stage. So who should go visit the show? Everyone! “The Outta Control Magic Show” is an amazingly versatile event for one and all. We’ve gone there on our date nights, and can say it makes a wonderful, and different, outing for a date. Families are always there and everyone seems to have a ball. You can hold a birthday party there, and the lucky birthday boy or girl will be made part of the show from the very beginning. If you’re visiting from out of town, this is a wonderful and memorable stop that you should defiantly check out. Don’t worry about the young children, either; the show is always family friendly. One of our favorite things is that the show always changes. We have seen the show many times and it has never been the same. We’ve never been bored, and are always surprised. It is true that you may see some of the same tricks, but it’s never a disappointment. The comedy always changes, the tricks are always amazing, and the audience participation never brings about the same jokes. “What’s in the box?” Yes, what’s in the box indeed? The more I think about it, the more I think this phrase helps to sum up the show. What’s in the box, indeed. Like the box, you never know what’s going to be inside until you see it for yourself. Unlimited pizza, beer, wine and soda, and an amazing show; so what’s it all cost? For adults, the price is around , plus tax, and for children and seniors the price is about plus tax. But keep your eyes peeled! You can find coupons in coupon books and traveler’s guides found in almost any store and restaurant on I-Drive. Or if you’re looking to make an entire day of it, why not buy the Magic Combo ticket? For just about for adults and for kids you get an entire day at WonderWorks, plus “The Outta Control Dinner Show” to cap off your evening. For even more excitement, add on another dollar to the price and get a game of Lazer Tag at WonderWorks. If you are looking for an inexpensive dinner show in Orlando we highly recommend “The Outta Control Dinner Show”. I’ve never known anyone to leave unhappy; enter the show with troubles and leave with smiles and a light heart. As far as magic shows go, this one is great fun and really amazing. |
