Little Known Freebies at Walt Disney World A vacation to Walt Disney World can become very expensive, but with careful planning and cunning, you will find a variety of highly enjoyable activities that are free of charge. - Take a stroll down Disney's Boardwalk. This area near Disney's MGM Studios mimics the world-famous Coney Island boardwalk that is absolutely free to walk around and experience. There are many year-round activities and entertainment here for folks of all ages. Tip: There is a little known back entrance to Epcot here. Once inside the Boardwalk, head to the right-most area and you will find turnstiles that will lead you into Epcot's World Showcase near the French Pavilion.
- Enjoy free Ghirardelli Chocolate. While you are exploring the Downtown Disney Marketplace, be sure to make a stop at the Ghirardelli store and you will usually find an employee handing out free samples of fine chocolate.
- Visit Pleasure Island at no charge. This area has recently been open to the public, so if you'd like to take a stroll through Pleasure Island (even at night), you can do so and on most nights you can enjoy a cover band that provides outdoor entertainment.
- Take a ride on the monorail. It is a little-known fact that one can ride the Disney World monorails at no charge. You can simply park at Downtown Disney for free and take one of the complimentary shuttle busses to the Ticket and Transportation Center. From there, you are free to take a ride on the monorails and experience the awe-inspiring views of the Walt Disney World resort.
- Watch Epcot's Illuminations. The best spot to view Illuminations outside of Epcot is around the Boardwalk/Yacht & Beach Club resorts. Best of all, you won't have to fight the usually enormous crowds after the fireworks are over inside the park.
