Best Times to Visit the Parks

» Navigation » Orlando Vacation

As a whole, the best time to visit the Walt Disney World Resort and avoid large crowds is usually when schools starts back. We highly recommend you attempt to visit around mid-January (following the holiday season), late April (before Memorial Day), and between Thanksgiving and Christmas. You may also want to visit in late August since most summer school vacations have ended and many Disney resorts tend to drop their rates around this time.

Magic Kingdom

Try to be here between the late morning and early afternoon hours, as the mid-day parade and lunch time minimizes attraction wait times dramatically. If you are traveling with small children, enjoying this busy park early will also allow you to put the little ones down for a nap earlier in the evening.

EPCOT Center

The late-night Illuminations fireworks spectacular is the main attraction here so make sure to be in this park after sundown to make sure you don’t miss it! The older attractions are not usually very busy or hard to get into, though, you will want to reserve FastPass tickets for rides such as "Mission: Space", "Soarin", and "Test Track".

MGM Studios

It is best to enjoy thrill-rides like Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror as early as possible to bypass the long lines. If you are unable to get there early enough, be sure to reserve an entry ticket using the FastPass system! It is an absolute must for both of those attractions. MGM is also a great way to spend an evening. "Fantasmic!" is presented every night (sometimes twice). If you visit on a night where there are two showings, be sure to attend the earliest one in order to allow yourself time to hop over to EPCOT for Illuminations.

Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom opens earlier than any other park on Disney property. If possible, make sure you get here either very early or very late. Early morning and late afternoon mark daily feeding times for the animals throughout the park. As a result, the animals tend to be much more active during these times.
